This summer we set up every week in different green neighbourhood spaces in Frome, some well used & visible, others quiet & hidden. We brought tea, biscuits, cushions, a load of objects & art materials.. and invited people to join us. only got a few pics of a lovely session yesterday with families at the Mount.. 🧡 We must stop the colonising of people and the planet ✋ beautiful murals representing #Deptford from the ‘60s to ‘80s, inspired by stories of the Meet Me elders 💛 ☀️ The caravan travelled to Derby for the launch of ‘Untold Stories’ @artcoregallery. A brilliant, fruitful weekend with the warmest welcome. excited to post that the final sharing of my PhD curatorial research is happening next week in Derby, to coincide with the launch of @artcoregallery ‘Untold Stories’ exhibition. 2 weeks ago we held a memorial and fundraiser for the children of Gaza. At the end we marched silently, carrying birds and banners made at the event 🍉🕊️ The turnout showed how much people want to do something. our memorial event for the children of Gaza was more beautiful and powerful than we could have hoped for ❤️🇵🇸 🇵🇸We’re organising this event on Sat @silkmillinfrome with #FromeFriendsofPalestine and some brilliant artists & activists. I can’t believe this joyous event in Queens Square, captured beautifully by @miss_magpie_spy, was just a few weeks ago. Since then the lovely families we had just worked with in a central hotel were targeted by far right extremists. The xenophobic attitudes condoned, perpetuated and given platforms by right wing politicians and media are horrific.. as well as the lack of empathy and compassion towards refugees and asylum seekers. Speaking up for the children that can’t be heard 💔 Managed to catch the #LagosPeckhamRepeat show @southlondongallery, before it closed yesterday. A meditation on the flow of people, culture, objects and rituals from Lagos to Peckham (or Little Lagos) and back again. Our @deptfordx tour is complete after a final special gathering in the Albany garden last night, with wonderful stories from Christine, Pauline, Moira & Rosemary 🌿 Stop 1.. 🌿 a magical night under the trees in the last of the sun.. laughing, chair dancing , storytelling & eating stew.
